Set in an area of natural beauty, Weatherbury Farm  offers a stopping-off place for exploring the many attractions of the area. Opportunities for bicycling & hiking,  fishing, horseback riding and golf abound. A number of museums are conveniently located to the farm. Livestock auctions, covered bridges, farm markets, factory tours, shopping, sporting events, a winery, and  zoo offer other nearby places to visit during an escape to the tranquility of Weatherbury Farm. 

The many attractions of Pittsburgh, the Laurel Highlands, panhandle West Virginia and eastern Ohio are within easy driving distance.

Bike & Walking trails
MINGO CREEK  PARK
Route 136
One-hour loop hiking, biking & horse trail can be accessed from the east entrance of the park off Little Mingo Road.  A lengthy perimeter trail can be access throughout the park. Also picnicking & 2 covered bridges.
MONTOUR TRAIL
Cecil Township
Bicycle, riding and walking trails (crushed limestone surface). Also picnic areas, and playgrounds.
GREENE RIVER TRAIL
Rices Landing
4 miles crushed limestone trail
PANHANDLE TRAIL
 
29 miles of crushed limestone, recycled asphalt and original ballast extending from Colliers & Cove Rd in WV to McDonald Trail Station in McDonald , ending at Walker's Mill in Allegheny County.
RACCOON CREEK STATE PARK
Frankfort Springs
Numerous hiking trails, 3 miles of bridle trails; also picnic areas.
RACCOON CREEK STATE PARK - WILDFLOWER RESERVE
Eastern boundary of Raccoon State Park
5.6  miles of hiking trails; one of the most unique stands of native wildflowers in Western Pennsylvania. The hiking trails wander through fields, forests, meadows and along Raccoon Creek. In the end of April, guided wildflower walks are very popular. To protect the wildflowers, pets are prohibited. Hikers must stay on the trails.

Early American village. Arts and crafts demonstrations, re-enactments of early American lifestyles. Site of Meadowcroft Rockshelter. Seasonal festivals and workshops.

Open Wednesday through Sunday Memorial day through Labor Day. Weekends in May, September and October.
 
PENNSYLVANIA TROLLEY MUSEUM
Washington
A trolley car museum operating on a Pennsylvania streetcar track. Features trolley rides, more than 30 trolley cars including the New Orleans, featured in a Life magazine article when Tennessee William's A Streetcar named Desire opened, and a museum store.

Many families enjoy city sights and country nights during their visit. This gives them the best of both worlds -- after a day of sightseeing, they can come back to the farm with room to run, kids corner and friendly farm animals.

PITTSBURGH ZOO 77-acre facility that is home to thousands of animals representing hundreds of diverse species.
TOUR-ED MINE Coal plays an important part in southwest Pennsylvania's history. The Tour-Ed mine educates about mining and the life of miners. About 1 1/2 hours from the farm. North of Pittsburgh (exit 14, Route 28) .

Laurel Highlands' Attractions
The Laurel Highlands are a 1 1/2 hour drive east of the farm via the old national road.

FALLINGWATER Frank Lloyd Wright 1939 home cantilevered over a waterfall. Open mid-March through Thanksgiving.
FORT NECESSITY Reconstructed for in a meadow; site of George Washington's 1754 loss to the French -- the beginning of the French and Indian War. Mt. Washington Tavern is also on the grounds.
IDLEWILD AMUSEMENT PARK 7 acres of family fun, including story book forest, jumpin' jungle, hootin' holler, olde idlewild, raccoon lagoon, mister rodger's neighborhood of make-believe and soak zone.

LAUREL CAVERNS Pennsylvania's largest developed limestone cavern with mores than two miles of passages, including catacomb-like rooms and natural stone sculptures.
