As reported by Katherine Pettigrew in International Living Magazine, October 1993:

" The perfect place to stay during your Washington County family retreat is Weatherbury Farm, named for the farm in the Thomas Hardy novel and offering, as the sign by the driveway explains, a 'farm vacation.' Owners Dale and Marcy Tudor have worked for seven years restoring this 130-year-old farmhouse, and they say they have a good five years' work still ahead of them. But already, Weatherbury is a place you'll remember.
A stay at Weatherbury Farm, with just two guest rooms, is more like a visit with the Tudor family than a night in a bed-and-breakfast. Ask for a tour of the house and of the grounds, which feature a gazebo; a pool; flower, herb, and vegetable gardens; a barn; and fenced areas with herds of sheep and Hereford cows. If you're inclined, you can pitch in with the cores, helping to feed the animals, collect the chicken eggs, and even cut hay in season.
Rates are more than reasonable, just $65 a night, including a hearty, country-style breakfast. One of the guest rooms is equipped to handle two adults and three children; the second room can handle three guests at a time. For reservations, contact Weatherbury Farm 1061 Sugar Run Road, Avella, PA 15312: (724) 587-3763 " (please note address and phone number updated )
