Phoebe Murdock loved to sew in the summer kitchen -- hence, "Mother's Sewing Room." (The Murdocks were the first family to own the farm.)

In our restoration, we raised the ceiling (not the roof, just the ceiling), added a bath and replaced the windows -- with older ones! The "original" windows were mismatched, in very bad shape and didn't let in much light. So we replaced them with windows from a 1790's brick home in nearby West Middletown (reputedly the first brick house west of the Alleghenies). They provide a wonderful view of the pasture.

On the second floor, Mother's Sewing Room is tucked under the summer kitchen's tin roof, the walls are sponge painted blue, with gingham linens on the bed. The room has an ensuite bath with clawfoot tub and shower.

Mother's Sewing Room has individually controlled air conditioning & heating with ceiling fans. A small refrigerator is available for guest use.
