As reported by Sarah Pascarella, on Smartertravel.com  January 31, 2008:

” Just outside Pittsburgh, the Weatherbury Farm in Avella, Pennsylvania, runs an Official Weatherbury Farm Kid’s Program for families staying two nights or more. Packages include lodging, daily breakfast, an educational packet about farming, participation in farm activities, and taxes. Children will help out with morning farm chores, including bottle-feeding baby animals, gathering eggs at the henhouse, and pumping water for the animals. The property is situated on 100 acres and has a swimming pool (open for summer months). For two-night stays, per-night rates are $110 for two-person families, $124 for three, and $137 for four. For three-night stays, the per-night price drops to $96 for families of two, $110 for three, and $123 for four. Prices quoted are for rooms; suite accommodations are available at a higher cost.

The Weatherbury Farm offers a good value, with all “Kid’s Program” nightly rates coming in under $150, even for families of four. And the longer you can stay, the better your per-night rate will be, with three-night rates being especially reasonable. The farm is open year-round.* For reservations, call 724-587-3763.
