Local Organic Flours & Milled Products
Folks might buy Weatherbury Farm flours the first time because they are healthy. Not to mention that they are environmentally friendly. However, they continue to buy them because they just taste better!
Our flours offer bakers a tempting array of delicious flours as each flour has its own flavor.
Like many fine wines we consider our flour an “estate flour,” since our flours are milled from grains grown at Weatherbury Farm.
The fertile silt loam soil of our rolling hills contributes to the character and flavor of our grain. Thus, the products from our farm have their own terroir unique to our corner of southwest Pennsylvania.
At Weatherbury Farm we grow our own seed, we plant it, we nurture it, we harvest it and we grind it into wholesome local organic flour for you.
We grind the flour slowly and at a low temperature in our stone mill. Thus, the natural proportions and quality of the grain’s vitamins, minerals, oils and fiber are preserved in our whole grain products. In our sifted flours, most of the bran is removed but nothing is added.
Because we are only grinding our own grain, each product will be milled from the same variety and lot of grain each year. As a result, our flour will have consistent and predictable baking characteristics throughout the year.
Weatherbury Farm flours are local flour – the grain from which the flour is milled is grown at Weatherbury Farm. With our new Grain Tracker, you can trace your flour to the field where the grains were grown.
All products are USDA certified organic. Therefore, we use absolutely no GMO’s, no herbicides, no pesticides, no fungicides or synthetic fertilizers. Our grain is nourished with compost, manure and green manure cover crops.
Additionally, the Mill at Weatherbury Farm is registered with the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture, insuring that we adhere to safe food handling practices.
Place your order at our on line shop for our monthly on-farm flour pickup or to order by mail.
